Varicose Veins Surgeon

Surgery for varicose veins involves a procedure performed in the operating room under general anaesthetic. A small incision is made in the groin or behind the knee (depending on where the major source of the problem is) and the troublesome vein is disconnected, tied off and then a significant segment of this vein is removed. Multiple smaller veins can also be removed at the same, but surgery does not always removed all the small veins completely and you may need to have further supplementary procedure (sclerotherapy) once theyve recovered from surgery to get rid of any persisting vein. Patients are usually admitted to hospital for 1-2 days, and are off work for up to 1-2 weeks. Given the more invasive nature of this procedure, Mr. Bhamidi reserves this options for patients who cannot have a minimally invasive (e.g EVLT) procedure for whatever reason.
