Preparing For Your Procedure

Home / Preparing For Your Procedure

For all procedures:

  • You need to be fasting (nil by mouth) for atleast six hours prior to your procedure, whether it is a day case or surgery involving admission to hospital.
  • Please continue to take all of your normal medications with a small sip of water unless otherwise instructed by Mr. Bhamidi or the anaesthetic specialist.
  • You should not stop taking Aspirin unless specifically instructed to. The plan for other blood thinning medication will be discussed with you prior to your procedure.
  • Please bring all relevant test results and scans that you have had performed during the course of your consultation.
  • Bring comfortable clothing/pyjamas if you are being admitted to hospital after your procedure.
  • Please have someone available to drive you home.
  • If you have had leg surgery, it is important to keep the leg elevated when you are not walking as a way to help decrease swelling and discomfort.
  • Take your pain medicine as directed but it is not normal to have significant or excruciating pain when discharged home – if this is the case, please contact Mr. Bhamidi to discuss things further
